BA (HONS) INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN
Interior Architecture and Design is an exciting programme that is highly responsive to contemporary society at a time when people spend more time than ever inside buildings. On the BA (Hons) Interior Architecture and Design degree, students learn to adapt existing buildings for new purposes and create exciting new spaces by designing stunning, functional interiors.
The course engages its students in developing knowledge, experience and professional skills which allows them to establish their identity as designers and to reach a confident and individual practice that enables them to succeed in their future careers.
Our students present a selection of images from their final year project, showing the wide range of skills and creativity they have gained here at the University of Portsmouth. Through this wide range of projects, they demonstrate their ability to engage with key debates concerning not just their own subject, but also wider concerns in the outside world that may intersect with the way built spaces are designed.
Contained in this work is a constant questioning of the interior and the boundaries that define it. There is also a wide range of methods and styles of representation, from the digital to the hand-drawn and crafted in models. In the final year of the course, studio projects are combined with professional practice modules, enabling students to develop their portfolios and undertake work experience. Moreover, our alumni and professional networks have enabled many of our graduating students to experience design practice before leaving University and to consider the wide range of destinations open to them.
We congratulate all of our students on their achievements and wish them all the best for the future.
